Farmers’ Markets go yellow for bees

The Wheen Bee Foundation and the Australian Farmers’ Markets Association are once again joining forces to celebrate World Bee Day with the Bring Your Buzz campaign.

This marks the fourth year of the Bring Your Buzz campaign, which encourages people to wear yellow to their local farmers’ markets and buy food from producers who value the role bees play in their production.

The Bring Your Buzz campaign will take place from Saturday 18 May to Sunday 26 May.

Farmers’ markets can get involved by hosting events. Make a buzz by encouraging your shoppers and stallholders to:

  • Wear yellow hats, shirts, jumpers, scarfs and shoes
  • Decorate stalls with yellow balloons, flowers and signs
  • Feature honey stalls and organise honey tastings
  • Host talks with bee experts
  • Spread the word about the important role bees play in food production

Participating farmers’ markets can list their events for free online at www.worldbeeday.org.au/add-listing
