Host a Great Bee Morning Tea

Show your support for bees and Australian beekeepers and the vital role they play in food production by taking part in The Great Bee Morning Tea.

Join the celebration for World Bee Day by holding your own Great Bee Morning Tea. It’s a fabulous way to show your support for bees and Australian beekeepers, and recognise the vital role they play in food production in Australia.

Gather your friends, colleagues or classmates and hold a morning tea filled with treats made with pure Australian honey.

Use Australian honey to make your favourite honey-filled biscuits, cakes and the all-time classic honey joy, or buy products made with 100% pure Australian honey. Always remember to check the label for the Product of Australia logo, and ask bakers and cafes if they use honey made in Australia.

By buying Australian honey, you’re supporting beekeepers and the valuable and often unrecognised role they play in Australia’s food production.

More than just producing honey, Australian beekeepers provide bees to agriculture sectors that rely on pollination. Crops such as almonds, macadamias, avocados, apples, pears, berries, stone fruit, plus vegetables and crops including canola rely on beekeepers bringing their bees to farms.

While beekeepers do a great job managing this important role, they face increasing threats from imported and adulterated honey. These cheaper products undermine the industry and make it harder for beekeepers to maintain their service for Australian agriculture.

That’s why it’s so important to buy pure Australian honey and products made with 100 per cent Australian honey.

The Great Bee Morning Tea is the perfect opportunity to thank beekeepers. Here at the Wheen Bee Foundation, we are encouraging businesses, schools and community organisations to hold a Great Bee Morning Tea and raise funds for the Wheen Bee Foundation, to help us with our vital role supporting bees and beekeepers, with programs and research projects that addresses the national and global threats to bees.

How to take part: You can host your own Great Bee Morning Tea on World Bee Day 20 May, or any day around that time that suits you.

Simply gather a group of friends and make sure everyone brings something made with Australian honey. It’s that simple.
