Mt Pleasant Farmers Market will be celebrating World Bee Day on Saturday May 21, 8am – 12pm with all things Bee! We will be buzzing with activities celebrating World Bee Day with a plethora of bee related activities, information and complementary stall holders.
Last year’s celebration was an overwhelming success with well over 1000 patrons converging on the market to show their support for World Bee Day. Repeating that format the market, in conjunction with the Australian Farmers Market Association, has partnered with the WHEEN Bee Foundation to highlight the importance of bees and other pollinators in our environment. Locally the market has linked up with the Beekeepers Society of South Australia, to bring their knowledge and expertise to the day.
The market will be celebrating with free educational bee workshops for both children and adults. Barossa Honey apiarist Phil Marshall will be showcasing his bees with his beekeeping experience. The experience will offer the opportunity to suit up and see a real live working hive.
The chance to speak to knowledgeable bee experts like guest presenter Marc Webb & daughter Estelle from Aristaeus Farms who will be on hand to answer any bee related questions for those interested in becoming a beekeeper or keeping hives.
Patrons are encouraged to wear their best ‘bee outfit’ to show their support for our bee populations.
